Devils place Salvador on IR

The New Jersey Devils have placed defenseman Bryce Salvador on injured reserve because of a lower body injury.

Salvador has missed three games and has not played since last Monday's loss at Boston. The 38-year-old captain has two assists in 15 games this season.

The Devils recalled defenseman Peter Harrold and goaltender Scott Clemmensen from their American Hockey League affiliate in Albany, while also assigning goaltender Keith Kinkaid to the minor league club.

Clemmensen played five games at Albany, while Kinkaid served as the backup to Cory Schneider, who has started all 18 New Jersey games this season.

The Devils are headed to western Canada for four games, starting Tuesday in Winnipeg.

Salvador and forward Ryane Clowe, sidelined for five games after a hit to the head in a Nov. 6 game against St. Louis, will not make the trip.

The Devils said center Adam Henrique and defenseman Jon Merrill will accompany the team. Henrique has missed six games with a lower body injury and Merrill hasn't played since Nov. 1 against Columbus when he was slashed on the arm.
