Chargers activate Ingram, move Verrett to IR

The San Diego Chargers activated outside linebacker Melvin Ingram from injured reserve/designated to return and placed rookie cornerback Jason Verrett on IR among a series of roster moves made Saturday.

Ingram has missed San Diego's last seven games after hurting his hip in the Chargers' 30-21 victory over Seattle in Week 2. The 2012 first-round pick notched one sack, eight tackles and a forced fumble in two contests before being sidelined.

The 25-year-old pass rusher, who was limited to just four games last season by a torn ACL, is expected to play in the Chargers' clash with Oakland on Sunday.

Verrett, San Diego's first-round selection in this year's draft, tore the labrum in his left shoulder last month and temporarily played through the injury, though he was inactive for the Chargers' Week 9 loss at Miami that preceded the team's bye week.

The former TCU standout is likely to undergo surgery and finishes his rookie year with 19 tackles, one interception and four passes defensed while starting four of six games.

Additionally, outside linebacker Cordarro Law was waived due to Ingram's return and safety Adrian Phillips was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

Law had seven tackles and a sack in three games after beginning the season on the Chargers' practice squad.
