The National Hockey League handed down a three-game suspension to Vancouver Canucks left wing Alex Burrows on Friday.
Burrows was not penalized for delivering a hit to the head of Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin at 8:23 of the second period in Thursday's 3-2 Canucks' overtime victory.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Burrows will forfeit $72,580.65 which automatically goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Burrows will not be eligible to return until Nov. 6, when Vancouver plays in San Jose.
