Among Murray's accomplishments for October were league highs of 520 rushing yards and 691 yards from scrimmage. He averaged 130 yards per game during the month, rushing for at least 100 yards in each contest en route to breaking Jim Brown's NFL record of six straight 100-yard games to start a season.

Murray leads the NFL with 1,054 rushing yards and is tied for the league lead with seven rushing touchdowns. He joined Hall of Famers Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith as the only running backs to win consecutive NFC offensive monthly honors in a single season.

Griffen led the NFC with six sacks and added 20 tackles with a forced fumble during the month to pick up the defensive award. He had at least one sack in each of the team's four games.

Graham earned the special teams nod after converting all nine field goal tries and nine PATs during October. Despite playing only three games because the Saints had a bye, Graham led all NFC players with 36 points.
