Rockies dismiss coaches Wright, McLaughlin

The Colorado Rockies announced Thursday that pitching coach Jim Wright and bullpen coach Bo McLaughlin will not return for the 2015 season.

It's the first notable organizational move under new general manager Jeff Bridich since he was named to the position earlier this month, and comes after the Rockies finished last in the majors with a 4.84 team earned run average in 2013.

Colorado hurlers produced a 5.05 ERA at hitter haven Coors Field, but also managed an MLB-worst 4.62 mark on the road.

Wright spent the last three seasons as the Rockies' pitching coach and had been with the organization for 18 years in various roles. McLaughlin co-held pitching coach duties with Wright during the 2012 season before overseeing the bullpen for the past two campaigns.

Bridich said the team will conduct a search outside the organization to fill both positions.
