SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- San Francisco does not want to offend Lorde, but her music is bad for business ahead of the World Series.

San Francisco radio stations 104.5 KFOG and 96.5 KOIT are banning the song "Royals" by Lorde from its airwaves until the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals is concluded.

The two stations made the decision after they received complaints from listeners. They assured the New Zealand artist that the decision was not personal but the stakes were too high.

"Our listeners told us to do it, so we did it! As of 4 p.m. today we've removed Lorde- Royals from the our playlist until the end of the World Series. Go Giants, beat the Royals!" wrote KOIT Program Director Brian Figula on its website Friday.

Kansas City on the other hand letting it run rampant across the radio stations. 99.7 said it will run the song at the top of every hour through the opening night of the World Series.

Lorde has previously said in interviews that she was inspired to write the song after seeing a photo of KC Royals player George Brett signing baseballs.

"I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs," she told VH1. "He was a baseball player and his shirt said, 'Royals.'"

The World Series begins Tuesday.
