Stevens stepping down as Champions Tour president

The PGA Tour announced on Friday that Champions Tour president Mike Stevens will step down from the position and will be replaced by senior vice president of PGA Tour championship management Greg McLaughlin on January 1, 2015.

"Mike has done an exemplary job in leading the Champions Tour since 2008," said PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem. "Mike brought fresh ideas and enthusiasm for the Champions Tour and we are grateful for all of his contributions and wish him all the best as he transitions into the next phase of his life."

Stevens has been working in professional golf for 35 years and the 56-year-old was named the Champions Tour president in June of 2008. McLaughlin, who joined the Champions Tour back in June, will step into his new role when the new year hits.

"We are extremely pleased to have someone of Greg's quality to step into the role," Finchem said. "Greg brings great experience, as both a tournament director and administrator. This perspective will ensure future growth and success of the Champions Tour."
