Davis left off O's ALCS roster, Matusz added

Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis, as expected, was left off the roster for the American League Championship Series against the Kansas City Royals.

Davis is eligible to return from a 25-game suspension for amphetamine use in a potential Game 6, but Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Thursday he would not add the 2013 AL home run champ for this series and would address it again if Baltimore reaches the World Series.

Showalter did make a change to his pitching staff from the AL Division Series, adding lefty reliever Brian Matusz in place of right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez.

Matusz will join 10 other pitchers for the best-of-seven series that also features expected starters Chris Tillman, Wei-Yin Chen, Bud Norris and Miguel Gonzalez, as well as closer Zach Britton and fellow relievers Brad Brach, Kevin Gausman, Tommy Hunter, Andrew Miller and Darren O'Day.

The position players remain unchanged from the previous series against Detroit. Nick Hundley and Caleb Joseph are the catchers, while Steve Pearce, Jonathan Schoop, J.J. Hardy, Ryan Flaherty, Kelly Johnson and Jimmy Paredes make up the infield. Nelson Cruz, Adam Jones, Alejandro De Aza, Nick Markakis, David Lough and Delmon Young comprise the outfield.
