Arizona Cardinals player formally charged

Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer has been formally indicted by an Arizona grand jury on a felony charge of aggravated assault.

PHOENIX, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- On Friday, a Maricopa Co., Ariz. grand jury indicted Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer on a felony charge of aggravated assault.

The indictment stems from two arguments with his wife in July.

Dwyer was also indicted on eight misdemeanors including one assault charge.

He was deactivated by the Cardinals after he was arrested earlier this month in connection with the incidents.

Dwyer will not play the rest of the season because he was deactivated by the Cardinals.
