NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- A sneaky New York Yankees ball boy made off with Derek Jeter's last foul ball at the stadium, likely driving the value of the ball up to five-fold its original worth, a sports memorabilia expert said.

In what seemed liked a planned move, an unidentified ball boy fielded Jeter's last foul ball and reached into his back pocket to grab a different ball, which he then handed off to a fan. He kept the real deal for himself.

Kevin Bronson, director of acquisitions at Leland Sports Auction House, told ABC News the move likely drove the value of the ball up because the clip of the slick move has been played over and over in the media.

"It's a pretty great thing, I'd love to have it for our auction," he said.

The ball would have been worth between $2,000 to $4,000 had it actually been given to a member of the crowd. But now that there's a story attached to it, it could fetch as much as $10,000.

"It's worth the most it's ever going to be worth last night," Bronson said. "As Jeter fades from the spotlight, so do prices."

Thursday was Jeter's final game at Yankee Stadium.
