Vikings sign Fusco to contract extension

The Minnesota Vikings have signed guard Brandon Fusco to an undisclosed contract extension.

Fusco has started 31 games over the past two seasons and in 2012 was part of an offensive line that helped Adrian Peterson earn NFL MVP honors with the second-best rushing season in league history at 2,097 yards.

"He is a valued member of our offensive line," said Vikings general manager Rick Spielman. "Brandon is a player that has come in and done everything that we have asked. We strive to draft players that are not only talented, but meet our criteria both on and off the field."

Fusco was selected by the Vikings in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

"I am very excited to get this deal done and continue my career with the Minnesota Vikings," said Fusco. "I want to first thank the Wilf family, Rick Spielman and (director of football operations) Rob Brzezinski for taking the chance on me and believing in my abilities."

The Slippery Rock product appeared in three games as a rookie.
