The Rockies plated runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings.

Stubbs clubbed his solo shot into the Colorado bullpen in right-center with one out in the opening frame.

In the fifth, D.J. LeMahieu led off with a single, advanced to second on Matzek's sacrifice bunt and scored on Charlie Blackmon's base hit into right- center.

Arenado began the sixth with his solo blast into the seats in left to give the Rockies a 3-0 advantage.

The Padres didn't put a runner into scoring position until the ninth when they squandered a leadoff double by Abraham Almonte.
