LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 (UPI) -- She might have been opening for Clayton Kershaw, but 13-year-old Mo'ne Davis stole the show at Dodgers' stadium Tuesday, nailing a strike across the plate as she threw out the game's ceremonial first pitch.

Since bursting into American sports consciousness at the Little League World Series, Mo'ne has affectionately smack-talked the Dodgers ace, first proudly telling ESPN, "I throw my curveball like Clayton Kershaw and my fastball like Mo'ne Davis" and later challenging Kershaw to a "pitch off."

"Hey Mo'ne, just wanted to say congratulations on making it Williamsport," Kershaw said in a video message recorded by ESPN.

"I heard you're ready for a pitch-off. I don't know exactly what that means, but I'm prepared. I'm ready for whenever you can make it out to LA, just let me know."

The first girl in Little League history to pitch a shutout made it to LA, where she dazzled the Chavez Ravine with her fastball and reduced Major Leaguers to giddy fans.

Although Kershaw pitched eight innings of one-run ball en route to his seventeenth victory, the likely National League Cy Young winner still had to answer to Mo'ne for the home run he gave up to Nationals center fielder Bryce Harper.

"How did you feel when Bryce Harper hit that home run," Mo'ne joshed her idol.

"Not good," Kershaw told her, before offering some insight and a compliment.

"I got a little stubborn. I kept throwing him fastballs, thinking he couldn't catch up and he did. It happens. Probably not very often to you, though."
