Hoyer, Manziel lead Browns past Bears

Browns starting quarterback Brian Hoyer played just one series against the Chicago Bears on Thursday night and took Cleveland on a 13-play, 85-yard drive that ended with a Ben Tate touchdown run.

Hoyer completed 6-of-8 passes for 69 yards on the drive as the Browns rolled to a 33-13 victory in the preseason finale for both teams.

Rookie Johnny Manziel connected on 6-of-17 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. The Texas A&M product also carried the ball four times for 55 yards.

Isaiah Crowell carried the ball 13 times for 102 yards and a score for the Browns, who start the regular season at Pittsburgh on Sept. 7. Willie Snead caught three passes for 75 yards.

David Fales completed 13-of-24 passes for 146 yards, one touchdown and an interception for the Bears, who open the season at home against the Bills on Sept. 7. Santonio Holmes caught a 32-yard TD pass from Fales.
