Sixers acquire Thabeet

Aug. 26, 2014 at 7:35 PM   |   Comments

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired center Hasheem Thabeet and cash considerations from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a 2015 protected second round draft pick.

Thabeet was drafted No. 2 overall by Memphis in 2009 but failed to carve out a role over five seasons with the Grizzlies, Blazers, Rockets and Thunder. The 7-foot-3 UConn product has career averages of 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds.

The Thunder also acquired a trade exception, which they will have one year from today to use before it expires.
