The Cleveland Indians selected the contract of newly acquired catcher Chris Gimenez from Triple-A Columbus prior to Sunday's game against the Houston Astros.

Gimenez was acquired Saturday from the Texas Rangers. He batted .262 with 11 RBI in 33 games for the Rangers this season.

The 31-year-old veteran returns to the Indians organization after playing with Cleveland from 2009-2010.
