Pirates' Morton to DL with hip inflammation

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed right- hander Charlie Morton on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with right hip inflammation.

Morton, 30, has made 25 starts for Pittsburgh this season, going 5-12 with a 3.84 earned run average .

The Pirates recalled infielder Brent Morel from Triple-A Indianapolis to fill the roster spot. Morel played in nine games during two earlier stints with Pittsburgh this year.
