BOSTON, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is known for his frosty postgame interviews and deadpan demeanor, but it remains to be seen whether he is really as cold as ice.
Football fans and media personalities are calling on Belichick to take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness for ALS.
The challenge is simple. Participants simply record themselves dumping a bucket of ice water on their heads and call out someone else to do so in the next 24 hours. People who fail to meet the challenge by dousing themselves are then supposed to donate to a charity which supports ALS. (People who meet the challenge can still donate too.)
It's unclear how the challenge started exactly, but it was inspired by former Boston College baseball player Peter Frates' battle with ALS, aka Lou Gehrig's disease.
