McWicked captures Adios Pace at The Meadows

Odds-on favorite McWicked set most of the pace and rolled to victory Saturday in the $400,000 final of the Adios Pace at The Meadows.

Trained by Casie Coleman and driven by David Miller, McWicked left from post 2 as the 1-5 favorite in the nine-horse field of 3-year-olds for the mile pace.

McWicked took the lead shortly after the start and set the pace with At Press Time, Cammikey and Somewhere In L A racing right behind him. The favorite took the field into the final turn with Somewhere In L A moving into second on the outside.

McWicked, racing along the rail, turned back the challenge from Somewhere In L A and went on to post a length victory in a time of 1:49 1/5.

"Pretty much loafed around the track, really no pressure at all," the winning driver said. "He's very manageable, he would go a lot slower if I let him."

Cammikey was third with Beat The Drum fourth.

Owned by SSG Stables, McWicked added $200,000 with the Adios victory and has won five of his last six starts. The 3-year-old colt has earned $798,447 with nine wins and seven seconds in 19 career starts.

Coleman becomes the first female trainer to win an Adios final.

McWicked returned $2.40, $2.10 and $2.10. Somewhere In L A paid $4.40 and $3.60, Cammikey paid $5.00 to show.
