AKRON, Ohio, July 24 (UPI) -- NBA player Lebron James made a sweet gesture to his neighbors by sending them all cupcakes to apologize for the media circus surrounding his house.

Since James announced he was leaving the Miami Heat to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, reporters and photographers have been camped out on his lawn and around his neighborhood. The media attention even spurred someone to create a "Lebron's Lawn" parody Twitter account.

To make amends for the traffic jams and general annoyance, James ordered 70 dozen cupcakes to send to 65 of his neighbors and five dozen for the Bath Township police. The "Just a Kid from Akron Cherry Cola" and "Homecourt Chocolate Chunk" cupcakes were specially made for James' foundation.

"Dear Friend," the card that accompanied the sweets read. "We know things have been hectic in our neighborhood these past few weeks and we are sorry for the chaos. We are so thankful to live in this wonderful community and we are so blessed to have understanding neighbors like you."

"It was really hectic around here," said David Galehouse, a rising sophomore at Ohio State whose family lives nearby. "But it's really nice for LeBron to do something like this."

"They were some of the best cupcakes I ever had," he added.
