Detroit pummels the Diamondbacks

Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer, Austin Jackson had a three-run double and the Detroit Tigers cruised to an 11-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Miguel Cabrera hit a three-run homer, Austin Jackson had a three-run double and the Detroit Tigers cruised to an 11-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Alex Avila also drove in three runs for the Tigers, who won two of three games in the series.

Didi Gregorius hit a two-run homer for the Diamondbacks, who climbed out of a 7-0 hole to get within two runs before giving up four in the eighth inning. They finished 4-2 on a six-game homestand.

Jackson hit a three-run double in a five-run fourth that gave Detroit its 7-0 lead. He was 2-for-5 with two runs scored -- the sixth game in a row he had two hits. Jackson has at least that many hits in nine of his last 10 games and is batting .452 over the span.
