Valencia seals West Ham move

Ecuador striker Enner Valencia has completed a move to Premier League side West Ham United, the London club confirmed on Thursday.

Valencia, 24, starred for Ecuador in the World Cup, scoring three goals during his side's three group-stage matches -- two against Honduras and one against Switzerland -- but Ecuador failed to reach the knockout round.

Valencia makes the switch to West Ham from Mexican club Pachuca on a new five- year contract in a deal reportedly worth 12 million pounds.

He scored 18 goals in 23 league appearances for Pachuca, and becomes West Ham's fifth signing of the summer. He joins midfielder Diego Poyet from Charlton, striker Mauro Zarate from Velez Sarsfield, Anderlecht's Senegal international midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate and Ipswich fullback Aaron Cresswell.
