NEW YORK, July 14 (UPI) -- A new ad for ESPN's SportsCenter shows Metallica pitching new entrance music after Yankees relief pitcher Mariano Rivera retired last season.
Since Rivera left with his signature "Enter Sandman" walk-up song, "the guys from Metallica don't have much to do" so they have taken to pitching numbers to other athletes, including golfer John Daly.
"You guys know this is for golf, right?" said sportscaster Scott Van Pelt.
The three headbangers enjoyed making the ad and said they would like to do more.
"Sometimes it can be quite freeing to put yourself at the mercy of others," Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone. "ESPN's commercials have a tendency to be hilarious. We were like, 'That sounds like a good time.' The whole thing had an overriding impulsivity to it."
