NEW YORK, July 10 (UPI) -- Mike D'Amico, better known as Teddy Goalsevelt, said in an interview that he's "just another fan" who wanted to do something special for the World Cup.

The costume went viral after American fans saw the 26th president lookalike cheering for his country when an ESPN camera panned to D'Amico's face during a USA game.

D'Amico, who works in advertising, received cheers from his co-workers and people in the streets who started asking him for photos and autographs. He laughed after one fan approached him saying, "George Bush!"

He told Inside Edition that he plans to hang up his hat, but he'll be back if the U.S. needs him.

"Teddy Goalsevelt has served his purpose. I don't see it going too much further but he'll always be ready when the U.S. needs him. The World Cup is like anything else and if I miss one for the rest of my life, I'm going to regret it and so I think this is going to be a staple of my life every fours years is making the journey to the World Cup."
