Clayton Kershaw threw his first career no-hitter on Wednesday and was rewarded with the National League's Player of the Week award.
Facing the Colorado Rockies, the best offensive club in the majors this season, Kershaw tossed an efficient 107 pitches in nine no-hit innings, striking out 15 and facing just a batter over the minimum.
Kershaw's outing was perfect except for Hanley Ramirez's throwing error in the seventh inning. His 15 strikeouts were the most in MLB history by a pitcher that did not allow a runner to reach base via hit, walk or hit-by-pitch.
The no-hitter was the second by a Dodgers pitcher this season, with Josh Beckett's no-no against Philadelphia on May 25 being the other, and the 22nd in franchise history.
