LSU adds Musselman as associate coach

LSU has added former NBA head coach Eric Musselman as an associate men's basketball coach.

Musselman served as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors from 2002-04 and later the Sacramento Kings in 2006-07. He spent the past two years as an assistant at Arizona State and will be the only former NBA head coach working as an assistant on the NCAA level.

"We are excited about the addition of coach Eric Musselman," said LSU head coach Johnny Jones in a statement Tuesday. "He brings a wealth of NBA and college experience that will be beneficial as we strive to continue to take LSU basketball to new heights. He will be involved in all aspects of our program."

In his two years at Arizona State, the Sun Devils won 43 games and advanced to the second round of the NIT in 2013 as well as the NCAA Tournament in 2014.

"I really am excited to join the LSU family, a place that has such a storied athletic program, and help Coach Jones and the staff continue to make strides," said Musselman. "It will be challenging to learn about another great conference as the SEC."

Musselman has also coached at different levels of pro basketball, including the CBA, USBL and the NBADL. His 68.8 winning percentage in the CBA trails only George Karl in the history of that league.
