Former Indiana QB transfers to Illinois State

Illinois State football coach Brock Spack announced Monday that former Indiana quarterback Tre Roberson has transferred into the Redbirds' program.

The 6-foot, 203-pound redshirt junior is enrolled in summer courses at ISU and will be eligible to play this year. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Roberson, from Indianapolis, appeared in 23 career games with Indiana, including nine starts. He completed 197-of-330 pass attempts (59.7 percent) for 2,433 yards and 20 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 982 yards on 206 carries and scored 10 touchdowns.

"We know a lot about Tre and his abilities as a quarterback," Spack said. "We have had a lot of success recruiting Indianapolis and the surrounding areas and knew about Tre coming out of high school, his success and the high-level coaching he received. He continued that with his experience at Indiana and Tre is a very different option for us in that he can really run and throw on the run well. He certainly will add a different dimension to our quarterback position with his skill set alongside Blake (Winkler), Adam (Pittser), Jake (Kolbe) and Trevor (Rea)."
