TCU outlasts Texas Tech in CWS

Boomer White's go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning lifted TCU over Texas Tech, 3-2, in the 2014 College World Series.

The Horned Frogs scored two runs in the eighth to overcome a 2-1 deficit and advance to a winner's bracket matchup, where they'll face the winner of Sunday's Ole Miss-Virginia battle on Tuesday.

In what was a pitchers' duel for most of the game, both teams were happy to reach the bullpen in the eighth. After Texas Tech took a 2-1 lead in the home half, TCU scored two runs off reliever Johnny Drozd. Keaton Jones singled and came around to score when second baseman Alec Humphreys's throw to first on a Cody Jones single was wild. White then knocked in the deciding run on a base hit to left.

Cody Jones went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and White drove in a pair. Preston Morrison tossed an impressive 7 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on five hits while fanning 10.

Tyler Neslony put Texas Tech ahead with a two-run triple in the eighth, while Chris Sadberry matched Morrison's effort by yielding a run on three hits with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.
