Pirates place P Liriano on 15-day DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed left-hander Francisco Liriano on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and reinstated righty Stolmy Pimentel from the 15-day DL.

Liriano has a strained left oblique. He is 1-6 with a 4.60 ERA in 14 starts this season.

Pimentel, who was placed on the DL May 3 with inflammation in his pitching shoulder, threw three scoreless innings in a rehab outing with Double-A Altoona on Friday.

He is 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA in six relief appearances this season.
