Tampa Bay falls to the Mariners

Robinson Cano struck a two-run single and Seattle's pitching staff combined for a five-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory over Tampa Bay in Monday's finale of a four-game set.

Robinson Cano struck a two-run single and Seattle's pitching staff combined for a five-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory over Tampa Bay in Monday's finale of a four-game set.

James Jones added three hits and Stefen Romero knocked in the other run for the Mariners, who took three of four in the series and finished their road trip with a 6-1 record.

Edwin Ramirez worked the first 4 2/3 innings, pulled due to five walks despite five strikeouts and four hits against. Joe Beimel (1-1), Dominic Leone, Danny Farquhar and Fernando Rodney finished off the contest by fanning four, walking one and yielding one more hit.

David Price (4-6) struck out 10 but allowed three runs on seven hits in defeat for the Rays, who have dropped three in a row and 13 of their last 14.
