Devin Mesoraco hit a two-run homer to help the Cincinnati Reds defeat the San Francisco Giants, 8-3, in the opener of a three-game set.

Jay Bruce and Brandon Phillips also knocked in a pair of runs for Cincinnati, which has won four straight and five of its last six overall.

Homer Bailey (6-3) allowed three runs over six innings with seven strikeouts in his first game against the Giants since he no-hit them last season. Bailey walked one and struck out nine in his second career no-hitter, a 3-0 win over San Francisco last July 2.

Tim Lincecum, who opposed Bailey on that historic night, was back on the bump against him and again lost the battle.

Lincecum (4-4) was charged with the loss after surrrendering eight runs on six hits and three walks over 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday.

He issued no hits through five innings against the Chicago Cubs last week before exiting with a no-decision after throwing 96 pitches and developing a blister on his throwing hand.

Hunter Pence went 3-for-4 with a homer, while Pablo Sandoval and Joaquin Arias also delivered an RBI apiece in the setback.
