Angels activate Hamilton from DL

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim activated outfielder Josh Hamilton from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Hamilton has been sidelined since early April, when a head-first slide into first base cost him almost two months of the season thanks to a thumb injury which eventually required surgery.

The 33-year-old slugger was off to a good start, hitting .444 with a pair of homers, seven runs scored and six RBI over the first eight games.

In addition, the Halos optioned pitcher Michael Kohn to Triple-A Salt Lake, selected the contract of pitcher Cam Bedrosian from Double-A Arkansas, transferred pitcher Sean Burnett to the 60-day disabled list and reinstated pitcher Dane De La Rosa from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Salt Lake.

Kohn had gone 2-1 with a 3.04 earned run average in 25 appearances for the Angels this season.

Bedrosian, son of long-time major-leaguer and 1987 NL Cy Young Award winner Steve Bedrosian, went 1-0 with a 1.47 ERA over 17 games for the Travelers after failing to allow a run in five games with Inland Empire of the California League.

De La Rosa gave up two runs over one-third of an inning during his lone 2014 appearance with Los Angeles.
