GREEN BAY, Wis., May 30 (UPI) -- The Green Bay Packers first-round draft pick is laughing all the way to bank after signing a deal worth more than $8 million that includes a $4.3 million signing bonus.

Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix will make $8,338,501 over four years and his contract also includes a non-negotiable fifth-year club option.

Clinton-Dix was the 21st overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after being named an All-American while playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide in college.

"I kind of went back and looked at Green Bay (before the draft) and (thought), 'You know, they could use some help (at safety and) on the defensive side of the ball, period, with the great offense they already have,'" Clinton-Dix told Fox Sports Wisconsin. "They brought me here for a reason. I love to play safety. I'm here. I'm ready for it."

He joins another former Alabama player, running back Eddy Lacy, in Green Bay.

Even though Clinton-Dix has reportedly been taking second-team reps thus far, it is expected that he will start for the Packers when the regular season begins this fall.

No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney has yet to sign a deal with the Houston Texans.
