Sabres sign F Deslauriers

The Buffalo Sabres signed forward Nicolas Deslauriers to a two-year contract on Monday.

Acquired from the Los Angeles Kings along with Hudson Fasching on March 5, Deslauriers made his NHL debut with the Sabres two days later and appeared in 17 of Buffalo's last 20 games. The 23-year-old tallied once and racked up 18 penalty minutes.

"Nick was able to step in and compete in every situation we put him in," said Sabres general manager Tim Murray. "We're confident that he will be an important part of our organization going forward."

Deslauriers led the Manchester Monarchs, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Kings, in goals with 18 prior to being acquired by the Sabres.
