Thomas Schaaf was appointed as manager of Eintracht on Wednesday after spending 14 years in charge of Werder Bremen.
The 53-year-old Schaaf joins Eintracht on a two-year deal and he takes over for Armin Veh, who will take charge of Stuttgart next season.
Schaaf enjoyed a successful 14-year stint at Bremen, helping the club capture the domestic double in 2004 while also winning two additional German Cups in 1999 and 2009.
Bremen also qualified for the Champions League five times under Schaaf before he stepped down in May 2013 after helping the team avoid relegation.
"I have been at one club for a long, long time, and now a new challenge awaits me," Schaaf told Eintracht TV. "I am looking forward to my new task and I am curious.
"In the last few years you could see which direction Eintracht has taken. They play interesting and attacking football. That's what I also stand for. I hope we can continue in this direction."
Schaaf inherits an Eintracht side that finished 13th in the Bundesliga this past season, nine points clear of the relegation places.
