Padres' Quentin returns from DL

The San Diego Padres made a flurry of roster moves on Tuesday, including the activation of outfielder Carlos Quentin from the 15-day disabled list.

Quentin landed on the DL prior to the start of the season due to a bone contusion in his left knee.

The 31-year-old will begin his ninth season in the majors and third with the Padres. He hit .275 with 13 home runs and 44 RBI in 82 games last season.

The Padres also placed pitcher Dale Thayer on the paternity list, optioned infielder/outfielder Kyle Blanks to Triple-A El Paso and recalled pitcher Kevin Quackenbush from the Chihuahuas.

Thayer has made 20 relief appearances this season for the Padres, compiling a 2-1 record with a 1.45 ERA.
