A two-run double by Luis Jimenez capped a four-run sixth inning and the Angels beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 in Los Angeles center field Mike Trout's homecoming.

Trout, who grew up in nearby Millville, New Jersey, received a standing ovation from the Citizens Bank Park crowd in his first at-bat and finished 1- for-5 as he returned to the area for the first time as a big leaguer.

Collin Cowgill had two hits, a walk and scored one run for the Angels, who claimed the first of two meetings against the Phillies.

Matt Shoemaker (1-1) picked up his first major league win after allowing two runs on three hits in five innings.
