Orioles Davis returns, Wieters to DL

The Baltimore Orioles will have slugger Chris Davis back in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Houston Astros, though the team will be without its starting catcher for at least two weeks.

To make room for Davis' activation from the 15-day disabled list, the Orioles placed Matt Wieters on the DL due to a right elbow strain.

Wieters' injury has limited him to designated hitter duties over the team's last five games and he's gone 1-for-13 at the plate over the past three. After batting .354 with five home runs and 18 RBI through his first 21 outings of the season, the two-time All-Star is 3-for-22 with one RBI since May 4.

Davis had been sidelined since April 25 by a strained left oblique. The 2013 American League home run and RBI champion hit .250 with just two homers and 13 RBI in 22 games prior to being sent to the DL.

The first baseman will bat third in Sunday's finale of a three-game series with the Astros.
