(SportsNetwork.com) - The NFL Players Association has reportedly filed a grievance concerning the franchise tag for New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham.
According to USA Today, the grievance was filed after months of failed talks toward a long-term agreement.
The Saints have tagged Graham as a tight end, but the NFLPA believes Graham lined up in a wide receiver position for more snaps and should be paid accordingly.
A tight end franchise tag is worth $7.035 million, while the receiver tag is $12.312 million, a difference of roughly $5.3 million.
Graham caught 86 passes for 1,215 yards with a career-high 16 touchdowns last season. He has 301 catches for 3,863 yards with 41 touchdowns in 62 games over his four-year career.
