Donald Sterling reportedly battling prostate cancer

LOS ANGELES, May 2 (UPI) -- Clippers owner Donald Sterling is reportedly battling prostate cancer and some say he may not have much time.

Sources told The New York Post that disgraced Clippers owner Donald Sterling is battling prostate cancer and people have been "predicting his imminent demise."

"They thought he would die two years ago," a source told the Post. ESPN has confirmed the Post's claims with their own sources.

Sterling, 80, faced backlash after a recording of him making racist remarks to his girlfriend V. Stiviano, leading to a lifetime ban from the NBA and a $2.5 million fine. The lifetime ban may not be a long one as people with knowledge of his illness believe that his cancer is terminal and he may soon die.

"People have been predicting his imminent demise. I’m sure he has the best...drugs money can buy," said the source. "He can do anything to keep himself alive."

"If that is true, my thoughts and prayers are with him," Clippers player Blake Griffin told ESPN. "Nobody deserves to go through something like that."

Sterling has not commented on his punishment or his health but he is rumored to be in negotiations with ABC to appear on 20/20 with Barbara Walters.
