Yusmeiro Petit pitched six scoreless innings as the San Francisco Giants blanked the San Diego Padres, 6-0, in the second matchup of a three-game set.

Petit (2-1), who made a spot start for Matt Cain, allowed three hits and struck out four to earn the win. Cain was scratched from his scheduled start after cutting his right index finger.

Hector Sanchez had three RBI, while Angel Pagan and Buster Posey both homered in the win. San Francisco has won five of its last six games.

Eric Stults (1-3) took the loss for San Diego after allowing five runs on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout over 2 2/3 innings.
