TALLAHASSEE, Fla., April 30 (UPI) -- DEVELOPING:
There are conflicting reports about why it is happening, but the Leon County Sheriff's Department has scheduled a press conference to discuss recent “contact” that deputies had with Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston.
TomahawkNation reported early in the day that Winston was arrested for shoplifting crab legs from a Publix grocery store, later updating that report to say he was simply given a citation.
It’s unclear what exactly happened, but the Leon County Jail had no record of Winston being arrested as of Wednesday morning, and Tallahassee Police tweeted that they had not had contact with Winston.
In response to recent requests: TPD has NOT had any contact with Jameis Winston regarding an alleged recent citation.— Tallahassee Police (@TallyPD) April 30, 2014

Here’s one possible explanation for why there is nothing on the record:
"He got an adult civil citation," Tomahawk Nation reported. "If he completes the sanctions it will never show up on his record. They commonly give them to juveniles on first criminal offenses. They are now doing it for minor misdemeanors for adults to lower crime rate."
According to TomahawkNation, whatever happened will result in Winston being fined $30, suspended from the baseball team and required to do community service.
