(SportsNetwork.com) - Former PGA Tour player and current Golf Channel analyst Notah Begay III is recovering from a heart attack that he suffered last week.

According to the Golf Channel, Begay was in his hometown of Dallas when he was stricken. He has been treated at Methodist Hospital and is expected to return to work in a couple weeks.

"I'm extremely grateful for the expert care I received from Dr. Jenkins and his staff," said Begay in a statement. "I anticipate a full recovery and feel lucky to be at home resting with my family. I appreciate the outpouring of well wishes I've received from family, friends and fans and I will be back covering golf once I'm fully recovered."

Begay's last full season on the PGA Tour was in 2009 when he played 15 events, but made just four cuts. Along with working as a television analyst, Begay works with the Notah Begay III Foundation, which works to prevent type 2 diabetes in Native American children via health and wellness programs.
