LB McClain says he's retiring again

(SportsNetwork.com) - Linebacker Rolando McClain is apparently retiring again.

McClain, a former first-round pick of the Oakland Raiders, retired last May after signing a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He was attempting a comeback with Baltimore this spring, but had another change of heart.

"I gotta follow my heart," McClain wrote in a text to ESPN.com's Seth Wickersham. He then re-tweeted Wickersham's tweet, which added, "If football made me complete I would play. But whenever I think of it my heart pulls me away from whatever reason."

The Raiders selected McClain with the eighth overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft after a standout career at Alabama. He last played in 2012.

In 41 career games with the Raiders, McClain had 246 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks and one interception.

McClain signed a one-year contract with the Ravens last April, but off-field problems continued when he was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge soon after. He called it quits in May in an effort to straighten out his life.
