Hurricanes' Semin slated for wrist surgery

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Carolina Hurricanes forward Alexander Semin will undergo surgery to repair an injury to his wrist, team general manager Jim Rutherford announced during Monday's end-of-the-season media session.

Rutherford said that Semin played through the injury for much of Carolina's 2013-14 campaign, which concluded with Sunday's 6-5 shootout win at Philadelphia. The veteran sniper did not play in that game or the preceding contest, and was held without a point in his final six appearances.

In 65 overall games this season, Semin registered 22 goals, 20 assists and a plus-one rating.
