According to the police report, a Tampa police officer observed a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban strike a curb while attempting to make a left turn. The officer noticed an odor of alcohol on Malone's breath during the traffic stop.

Since Malone refused to take a field sobriety test, he was arrested on a DUI charge. During the arrest, the officer found 1.3 grams of cocaine in Malone's back pocket.

The 34-year-old Malone had blood-alcohol content levels of .112 and .116, according to his booking information. The legal limit in Florida is .08.

"We are aware of the situation concerning Ryan Malone this morning," Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement. "Ryan will not travel with the team to Washington (Saturday), but beyond that we cannot comment further at this time."

Malone, who has not been in the lineup the past three games, has five goals and 10 assists in 57 games this season.
