New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Wild forward Mike Rupp has been suspended four games by the NHL for a late illegal check to the head of St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie on Thursday.
Oshie was caught by a high hit by Rupp at 10:30 of the second period. Oshie did not return to the game and will not play Friday against the Dallas Stars.
Rupp was assessed a match penalty for attempt to injure.
The suspension includes the Wild's final regular-season game and first three playoff games.
The 34-year-old Rupp had one assist in 13 games this season.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and based on his average annual salary, Rupp will forfeit $7,692.31. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
