Lions extend C Norman's contract

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - The B.C. Lions have signed center Matt Norman to a contract extension through the 2016 season, the team announced Thursday.

Norman started all 18 games for the Lions last season, his second in the CFL. The Quebec native was B.C.'s third-round selection (No. 22 overall) in the 2012 CFL Draft.

"Matt has responded incredibly well in some very high-pressure situations," said Lions head coach Mike Benevides. "The center position is extremely important and knowing we'll have continuity there is crucial to our success on offense."

Norman has appeared in 27 career games as well as a pair of playoff contests since entering the league.
