Marlins' Turner lands on DL

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Marlins placed pitcher Jacob Turner on the 15-day disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Washington Nationals.

Turner was slated to start for Miami on Wednesday, but was scratched due to a right shoulder strain he encountered while in the batting cages Tuesday. Brad Hand will get his first starting nod of the campaign in Turner's place.

In his only start this season, Turner allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks over six innings against Colorado on April 3. The right-hander went 3-8 with a 3.74 ERA in 20 starts last year.

Miami recalled pitcher Arquimedes Caminero from Triple-A New Orleans to replace Turner on the roster. The right-hander made 13 appearances out of the bullpen for the Marlins in 2013.
