Jefferson, Nowitzki named NBA Players of the Week

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Charlotte Bobcats center Al Jefferson and Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki have been named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 6.

The Bobcats went 4-0 last week and clinched their second playoff berth in franchise history with Jefferson leading the way. He averaged 24.3 points on .481 shooting from the floor. Jefferson also averaged 13 rebounds and 1.25 blocks per game to claim his third Player of the Week honors of the season.

Nowitzki led the Mavericks to a 3-1 week behind averages of 25.3 points and eight rebounds. He made 13-of-23 shots from beyond during those four games.

Other nominees included Atlanta's Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague, Brooklyn's Joe Johnson, Chicago's Joakim Noah, Houston's James Harden, Miami's LeBron James, and Phoenix's Gerald Green, among others.
